Create a teleconsultation appointment



The use of videoconference allows virtual interactions with your patients. This telemedicine functionality is integrated into Omnimed in partnership with the Reacts platform. For the doctor, the process is the same as for a patient in the clinic, with the addition of a click on the camera icon to view the patient rather than going to the waiting room to look for the patient.

⚠️ The creation of teleconsultation appointments is also possible with other platforms such as Zoom and Teams. However, this is a manual procedure and not a complete integration with Omnimed as is the case with Reacts to date.

Prerequisites

📣 The ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec and the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec are making the REACTS platform available to all Québec physicians. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic where access to hospitals and clinics is restricted, the platform allows virtual consultations to be conducted when indicated. Create a teleconsultation appointment

From the Appointment module:

  1. Create the patient's appointment. An error message is displayed when creating the appointment if the patient does not have an email address. If necessary, add an email address in the Patient Administrative center.

    If the appointment is already created, open the existing appointment and click on the pencil icon to modify it.
  2. From the menu, select the Reacts video call option. If a platform other than Reacts is used, select the Other video call option.
  3. Explain to the patient how to access their online appointment and instruct them to log in to their appointment in advance.

💡 Tips

  • Validate with the patient when booking the appointment his level of comfort with technology. If necessary, schedule a call with a member of the clinic's administrative staff to accompany the patient before his first teleconsultation. These appointments can be scheduled in their Omnimed agenda. The management of these accompaniments can also be done via appointment statuses. Ex."teleconsultation ready".
  • The secretary can call the patient before the appointment to confirm that he is connected to Reacts and then manually add the patient to the waiting room.

    ℹ️ Steps to be followed by the patient

    Once the teleconsultation appointment is created, the patient receives an email invitation to create a Reacts account. An email reminder is sent to the patient by Reacts on the day of the appointment.

    Once the patient is connected to the Reacts platform, he is automatically added to the waiting room configured for this purpose in Omnimed.

    Access the teleconsultation appointment

    1. Click on the camera icon from one of the following locations:
      1. the Agenda view of the Display schedule details mode or;
      2. the details window of an appointment;
      3. the waiting room in the left-hand navigation menu. The patient must be connected to Reacts to being automatically added to the waiting room configured for teleconsultation
    2. The Reacts login page opens in a new window, allowing you to write your consultation note at the same time in the initial window. The use of two screens is strongly recommended, although optional. Log in with your Reacts Pro access.
    3. Back in Omnimed, click on the patient's name to open the patient's file and write a clinical note. To fax queries and prescriptions, visit the Fax section of our Help Center.
    4. When the consultation is completed, click on the Hang Up button in the upper right corner of the screen. The teleconsultation window can remain open to avoid having to reconnect to Reacts between each video call.

    ⚠️ Modify an appointment

    Modifying an appointment is not supported by Reacts. If a change is to be made to the appointment, it must be canceled to create a new one.

    Cancel an appointment

    Cancellation of a teleconsultation appointment is done in the same way as a clinic appointment. It is also necessary to contact the patient to notify him or her. Reacts does not send a cancellation email.
